The 32-year old Congressman from Michigan is impressive, whether he’s talking monetary or foreign policy. Here he is on the Fed:
The ludicrous nature of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee touched a nerve with Russell Brand, apparently. The result is one of the more entertaining Conan clips I’ve seen (though O’Brien doesn’t do himself any favors with his grovelistic reactions):
The official site of the Queen’s UK Diamond Jubilee celebration, which looks like it’s from Geocities circa 1237 A.D., can be found here.
This discussion on Bill Maher’s HBO show about Fast & Furious was hard to watch. Maher, along with Rachel Maddow made the whiny case for why “conspiracy theorists” shouldn’t make a big deal about these ATF program (which resulted in the deaths of uncounted Mexicans and at least 2 Americans).
Background, for those who aren’t familiar: Fast & Furious is a Federally-funded program that intentionally shipped ~3,000 assault rifles to Mexican drug cartels. The stated aim was to track the guns, and later use them to arrest upper-level members of the cartel.
So, on self-described “libertarian” Bill Maher’s show, real libertarian Nick Gillespie, editor of Reason.com, and Rachel Maddow discussed this controversial topic.
Comments made by Hillary Clinton, back in 2009, about gun-smuggling and the drug-war are worth revisiting:
Especially telling are pro-gun-control comments Hillary makes to Andrea Mitchell, MSNBC anchor (wife of Alan Greenspan.) It’s a neo-liberal network with a set agenda. Don’t see that changing any time soon.
“The Italians have to lend to the Spanish banks at 3% but to get that money they have to borrow on the markets at 7%. It’s genius!…We’re driving countries like Italy towards needing to be bailed out themselves.”
