Thursday Must-Reads, Jersey edition
Californians are sinking themselves – Great Salon.com piece, “There is an unreal, almost dreamlike quality about this moment. Dreadful things are about to happen: Hundreds of thousands of children will lose their healthcare. Five thousand state workers will be laid off. Massive cuts will decimate education at every level. Social services will be slashed.”
Dow 36,000, This Bull Market Will Never End – 1999 article from the Atlantic. It’s amazing how delusional they were, looking back. Everybody loves a party. Too bad the Fed didn’t take away the punchbowl in time.
LA Jacks up Sales Tax to 9.75% – UGH, ridiculous. When you combine that with federal income, state income, real estate, capital gains, emissions inspections, and all the other taxes/fees, you get… a big number. Just guessing, but it must be over 50% for many. Things are gonna have to radically change, soon. I, for one, welcome our new small government overlords (or would, if that ever happens).
Dopamine-Returned on Energy Invested (DREI) – Kind of about Peak Oil. The writing style is so strange, and the cool pictures don’t hurt.
The Diary of John Adams – Thomas Jefferson gives poor Adams and his big-government philosophy no respect. Funny as hell (for a certain niche, anyway).
This video… could not stop watching. New Jersey is weird:
